The Story Of The Polluted Stream

A man was walking through a forest beside a polluted stream. Near the end of the day, the traveler became thirsty and saw a house ahead. So, he knocked on the door and asked for a drink of water. The lady of the house brought him a glass of crystal clear, sparkling water and it was the sweetest and purest water he had ever tasted. “Where did you get this water?” the man asked. “From the stream,” the lady replied. “That can’t be,” said the man. “I have been walking by that stream all day long and it is heavily polluted.” The lady responded, “I didn’t get the water here; two days ago I followed this stream all the way back to its source where it comes out of the mountain pure and sweet, and that is what you are drinking.”
Today the stream of religion has been polluted down through the ages by man’s traditions, man’s ideas and by man ignoring God’s ways on favor of his own. I’d like to invite you to go back to the Bible, the SOURCE, the pure Word of God, and let it instruct us on how to live acceptably before God in this life so we can spend eternity with Him in heaven when we die. It’s not a matter of who is right … but what is right.
